System Codex FAQs
FAQs
Quick answers about System Codex, spoiler protection, authors, AI, artwork, and community contribution.
What is System Codex?
System Codex is a spoiler-aware reading companion for LitRPG and progression fantasy series.
It helps readers keep track of characters, stats, skills, equipment, items, progression, and other system-style details without accidentally running into spoilers from later in the series.
Is System Codex official?
Some codexes may be official or author-managed. Unless clearly marked as official or author-managed, a codex should be treated as unofficial, community-created, or proof-of-concept.
How does spoiler protection work?
System Codex lets readers set their reading position in a series.
The app can then show information based on where the reader is, helping them avoid later spoilers while still refreshing themselves on what has already happened.
How does System Codex use AI?
System Codex may use AI for limited presentation-focused features, such as placeholder images, generic RPG-style visuals, icon generation where a codex allows it, and short system-style lines that turn existing codex data into readable sentences.
AI is not treated as the source of truth for a series. Codex facts, descriptions, stats, skills, items, upgrades, acquisitions, and chapter appearances are manually created, curated, or reviewed by people.

Does System Codex train AI on author works?
No. System Codex does not train AI models on author works.
We do not sell, license, or provide author or artist material to third parties for AI training datasets.

Where does codex information come from?
Codex information may come from manual curation, community contribution, public reference material, author-approved material, or official author input.
System Codex does not provide full-book, manuscript, or chapter-ingestion tools for unapproved public codex creation.
Can System Codex create a codex from an author's books?
Not currently as a general public feature.
In the future, System Codex may offer author-approved import tools that allow verified authors or authorised rights-holders to provide their own books, manuscripts, notes, or reference files to help build an official codex more easily.
That would be opt-in, consent-based, and limited to that author's codex work.
Can authors claim their own series?
Yes. Verified authors can claim their own series on System Codex for free.
A free author claim can include basic tools for requesting corrections, raising representation concerns, setting image preferences, and asking for review of unofficial codexes relating to their work.
Start here: For Authors.
Can authors set image preferences?
Yes. Verified authors can set basic image preferences for their own series for free, including whether AI-generated images are used.
Supporter credits or contributor tools do not override author preferences. AI images can only be created or published where a codex's visual policy allows it.
Can authors request changes or removal?
Yes. Authors and rights-holders can request corrections, attribution changes, image removal, codex review, public delisting, or removal from public view.
If a verified author or rights-holder asks us to remove an unofficial codex from public view, our usual approach is to delist it and make it inaccessible to the public while retaining internal records where needed for operational, moderation, legal, or audit purposes.
Can community members contribute?
The goal is for System Codex to support community contribution, while giving authors and maintainers suitable review and moderation controls.
Community-created codexes can be useful, but author preferences and rights-holder concerns matter.
How does System Codex treat artwork?
System Codex is strongly pro-artist.
Human-made artwork can receive attribution, credit links, labels, and highlighted presentation inside the app. AI-generated images may be useful as placeholders, but they are not treated as a replacement for human-made art.

What are paid author features for?
Paid author features are not about charging authors to protect their work.
They are for authors who want System Codex to become part of their official reader experience, with advanced tools such as branding, analytics, official art management, community workflows, website embeds, white-label options, or implementation support.
